Woof!

Greetings, can I have a treat?

My name is Moo and I am a 14-pound terrier mix with brown cow spots. I may be small, but I sure am mighty. I climb mountains, cross rivers, posthole in snow and sleep in tents! I was born in Memphis, Tennesse in 2013 and was adopted when I was about five months old. I live in Mammoth Lakes, California and I get to spend everyday running around outside in the beautiful mountains and lush forests full of squeaking pikas and marmots. I love to adventure with my human mom in the outdoors, mainly because her pack is always stuffed with my favorite treats!

My favorite hobbies include fetch, car rides, chasing my tail, running on trails, and chasing lizards, squirrels, marmots, mice, birds and bears. I spend most of my days in the backcountry either on a paddle board, on trail, in a backpack, or in a tent. I do not really enjoy scree and loose talus while tackling big peaks, but I try my best and sometimes my human mom must “pack me in”, because my little legs get tired after jumping from rock to rock at high elevations. I also get very sad when my mom leaves the house with her backpack or skis, but doesn’t bring me along. But then she comes home and I cannot stop wiggling my body and jumping with excitement!

When I am not in the backcountry, I enjoy taking puppy naps and running around my front yard, guarding the fellow humans from wildlife and intruders. The little humans that live across the way, call me “brown cow” and sometimes my mom confuses my real name with “Moo Moo”, “Goober”, and “Mooster”. I respond anyways, because eventually she will give me a treat or throw the ball. Also, you should see my collection of toys….

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I have FIVE beds, but I still prefer sleeping on the human couch or bed

  • I will not walk over bridges or cattle guards so please pick me up and carry me.

  • My favorite food is turkey bacon and chicken. When I am asleep downstairs (in my human’s bed), I often wake up to the smell of turkey bacon and come running upstairs because there is always a piece for me.

  • Sometimes I catch mice…and my human looks at me in disgust. But shouldn’t she be happy that I am catching things for her?

  • I once was attacked by a coyote and spent a few days in the hospital. That coyote learned his lesson.

  • I prefer summer over winter, but in the winter I get to ride in a backpack everyday, so that is actually quite fun because all I have to do is sit there and watch the birds.

  • I can fetch better than you.

  • I am a terrible swimmer and I am not very fond of being in water so I get to wear a large orange flotation device, but I enjoy crossing rivers and streams.

  • I am not very good at sharing toys with other dogs.

  • I enjoy exploring the inside of grocery bags and boxes, burrowing in blankets, and digging in the dirt.

  • If you come to my door, I will bark at you while wagging my tail. I will then run up to you and expect you to greet me. After all, you are entering my house and I expect pets and belly rubs.

  • I can run more miles in a day than most humans, don’t be fooled by my size.

I hope you enjoy following along on my adventures and if I ever meet you, please pet me, rub my belly and throw the ball (in that order).

    Xx,

    Moo
